The COVID-19 testing facility at Bergen Community College in Paramus reached capacity before it even officially opened Monday morning.

The Paramus Police Department made the announcement on Twitter at 7:24 a.m. saying that the site “is not accepting anymore patients today.” The site opened at 8 a.m.

The Paramus site was the first state-run testing site to open. It has reached capacity every day since opening on Friday.

A second state-run site opened at PNC Arts Center in Holmdel on Monday. That site also reached capacity within an hour of opening.

State officials are urging New Jersey residents to only go to the testing site if they are experiencing symptoms of the virus – a dry cough, shortness of breath and fever. People who are not experiencing symptoms will not be tested.
