The Fulfill Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean counties will now use the help of local restaurants to prepare extra meals, making sure the needy are fed during the coronavirus outbreak.

Every day, Fulfill serves the needs of 136,000 people in the counties, but that number could grow as the coronavirus outbreak expands. Some food pantries in the area are now ordered to be closed, creating an even bigger strain.

Fulfill CEO and former Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno announced today a partnership with several local restaurants to help ensure meals and lunches will continue to be prepared and delivered to the folks who need it at the Jersey Shore.

With the restaurant industry slowing down, it will allow participating restaurants to continue to keep their employees working, preparing boxed lunches for those food banks -- which have already closed.

Fulfill will pay the restaurants a stipend that will keep their employees working for at least a little bit. 

“The plan will be to drive up with the box lunches at the restaurant, the association gives us the restaurants that were here today and deliver them to the people where they are used to finding food,” says Guadagno.
