Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco has ordered more restrictions in the county to stop the spread of coronavirus COVID-19.
Tedesco issued the order after announcing that six new cases of the virus were detected in the county – bringing the total number of infected to 19. There are at least 50 total cases in all of New Jersey.
Tedesco says that American Dream will delay the opening of its water park and suspend operations on Sunday until further notice. Tedesco also ordered all public theaters, movie theaters and performance halls with fixed seating to close down. He says that this is to conform to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines of keeping 6 feet apart from one another to avoid spreading illnesses.
Gathers of 250 or more people will also be prohibited, according to the executive. He ordered the mayors of all Bergen County towns to enforce these rules.
Tedesco also asked all places of “public accommodation” to record the names, phone numbers and addresses of employees, patrons, visitors and vendors who enter their establishments. He says that this will help the CDC track social contact in the event of additional cases of infection.
