Fire damages Harvey Cedars home for the 2nd time in 2 days

Firefighters had to return to a home on Long Beach Island after a fire sparked for the second time in two days.
The first fire happened around 2:30 p.m. Monday inside the home on Kinsey Lane in Harvey Cedars. Crews extinguished that fire, but then it rekindled early Tuesday morning.
The volunteer fire department was able to save the surrounding homes from damage. Fires have a tendency to spread to other homes when they ignite in the barrier island community during the offseason.
Harvey Cedars Police Chief Robert Burnaford praised the efforts of the volunteers.
“You know, we can’t thank them enough. The High Point Volunteer Fire Company here in Harvey Cedars was here very quickly and also all the surrounding towns that came to help. We can’t thank them enough,” he says.
No injuries were reported.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
