State officials: Prescribed burns in effect this weekend across New Jersey

State officials are warning that smoke may be visible across areas of New Jersey this weekend due to statewide prescribed burns.

The state forest fire service is setting prescribed burns to help reduce undergrowth and forest materials that could potentially start and fuel wildfires.

These controlled burns are usually conducted around this time each year to help reduce the amount of smoke and dangers related to the fires.
