State Supreme Court to hear appeal in '91 cold case murder of Timothy Wiltsey

New Jersey's Supreme Court has agreed to hear the appeal of a woman convicted in 2016 of killing her son 25 years earlier.
The court released its order Friday granting certification to Michelle Lodzinski. Lodzinski was living in Florida when she was arrested in 2014 after detectives interviewed new witnesses who tied her to a piece of evidence in the murder of her 5-year-old son Timothy Wiltsey.
Lodzinski has said that the boy disappeared when the two were at a carnival in Sayreville in May 1991.
The boy’s body was eventually found in a wooded industrial area in Edison. Investigators doubted Lodzinski’s story, which changed several times.
Lodzinski's lawyers have argued that no evidence presented at her trial tied her directly to the boy's death.
