A 67-year-old man was fatally stabbed outside of an auto mechanic shop in Elizabeth early Saturday morning, according to the Union County Prosecutor's Office.

Police responded to the 500 block of Elizabeth Avenue shortly before 2 a.m. for a report of an argument. There they say they found the victim with a stab wound.

The victim has been identified as Carlos Ariza, of Elizabeth. He was taken to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A joint investigation into the case is underway by the prosecutor's Homicide Task Force, the Elizabeth Police Department and the Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit.
