Elementary school students send Valentines to troops overseas

Posted: Updated:

Some Bergen County elementary school students will be sending love and kind messages to American troops overseas.

Second and third graders at Westmoreland Elementary School in Fair Lawn will be sending Valentine’s Day cards to the services members.

Rep. Josh Gottheimer visited the students on Monday and helped make some last-minute cards. The students have been working on them for the last month.

“I think a card from an 8- or 9-year-old is sure to make everybody smile,” Principal Christy Dellaglio said. “From their artwork to their inventive spelling and adorable illustrations, I think receiving a card from this generation really warms a veteran’s heart.”

Gottheimer will be sending out the cards this week.
