Newark City Hall looked like it traveled back in time on Thursday as performers from Jurassic World Live hosted an educational event for students.
Newark Mayor Ras Baraka hosted 50 children for a unique STEM-related event. Students were able to participate in interactive activities and learned about the science of volcanoes.
There was also a special appearance by Olive, a curious baby stegosaurus from the Jurassic World Live tour.
"One of the nicest parts about our show is that our heroes are scientists. So, we want to stress that science is cool and people of intelligence can also be people of action,” says paleo-veterinarian John Palmeri. “Hopefully we inspire one or two more scientists out of this group of kids today."
The event marks the return of the Mayor's Community Pass Program. It is designed to make specially priced tickets available to families in the local community.
