A Cape May County teenager is facing charges after he allegedly went on a rampage inside of an upholstery shop and then fought a group of police officers while naked.
Middle Township police say that officers were called to Fresh Custom Upholstery in the Rio Grande section of town Thursday afternoon for reports of a disturbance. Authorities say that the first officer to arrive encountered a 17-year-old boy clad in only underwear briefs who was causing damage inside the store.
Police say that the teen removed his underwear when he saw the officer. When the officer tried to place the teen under arrest, authorities say that the boy tried to take the officer’s gun from the holster.
More police officers arrived and authorities say that the teen fought them, injuring three officers in the process. Authorities say that one officer dislocated his shoulder; another received a head injury and the third had glass in his leg.
Eventually, the officers were able to subdue the teen and placed him under arrest. The teen and the three injured officers were taken to Cape Regional Medical Center for treatment and are all expected to be OK.
The teen was charged with attempting to disarm a police officer, aggravated assault and criminal mischief. His name was not released due to his age.
