Wading River baby born with rare heart condition back home with family

A Wading River family feels complete once again as their little girl who was born with a rare heart condition returns home.

Ruby June Cotter is healthy, happy and back home with her parents following a successful heart transplant. Ruby first underwent surgery in November to receive a Berlin heart, a device that mechanically pumped her heart. Then in December she had a transplant and was able to return home two weeks ago.

"I am basically about ready to cry 24/7," says Ruby's mother Ashley Cotter. "I'm just so thrilled and I'm so grateful."

Ashley and her husband Brian say they couldn't have gotten through everything without the incredible love and support from family, friends and even strangers.
