Candidates in Greenwich are gearing up for a special election in the 151st Assembly District.

Rep. Fred Camillo resigned after being elected first selectman of Greenwich, leaving the crucial 151st seat vacant.

Camillo has thrown his support behind fellow Republican Harry Arora.

Arora founded AlphaStrat, a diversified commodities hedge fund, in 2006. His campaign wants to curb unnecessary public spending and turn large infrastructure projects over to the private sector to save money.

"I'm following the footsteps of Fred Camillo, who knows how to get things done," said Arora. "Who knows how to build consensus and compromise. So I feel good about it."

Cheryl Moss is hoping to flip the seat blue. Moss, a Greenwich native, is the current District 8 chair of the town's representative town meeting. She has a banking and environmental background and hopes to grow Connecticut's economy while protecting and improving the environment through green business she hopes to attract to the state.

"I already know this community and I am the best person to tell Hartford what we need here in Greenwich," Moss said.

The special election is Tuesday.
