Glen Rock police are investigating if two suspicious incidents at houses of worship in town are connected.

The first incident happened on Dec. 21 at the Sikh temple on Prospect Street. Officials say that a man walked into the temple just before 11 p.m. and began to wander around while repeatedly stating that they were doing a great job and giving the thumbs up gesture. Police say that the man did not make any overt threats, but temple officials found his behavior to be suspicious.

The man was described as white and left the area in a white Chevy SUV with “Jesus Christ is King” and other words in Spanish on the windows and bumper stickers, as well as an American flag.

Several days later, on Christmas Eve, police say that a man in his 60s walked into the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and asked church officials if the church permitted “gays” to be a part of the church. Police say that he made several anti-gay comments as well.

The man then left a box of religious pamphlets near the front door of the church.

Police are investigating if the same person was involved in both incidents.

The incidents come after several recent religious-related attacks. Five people were stabbed at a Hanukkah celebration in Monsey, New York, and a shooting occurred at a church in Fort Worth, Texas.
