Old Christmas trees would help build Jersey Shore dunes. Here is how you can help

Island Beach State Park in Berkeley Township is accepting Christmas trees if people would like to get rid of theirs, while also staying environmentally friendly.
The state park says it could use the trees to help build dunes.
The trees will protect the sands from erosion, and with time, the dunes will grow longer and stronger grass.
Collections will be held Jan. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the A-23 parking lot. The trees must be free of ornaments, lights and other decorations.
For further information about the collection, contact Island Beach Nature Programs at 732-793-1315.
