It's been three years since Sarah Stern was last seen alive, but her dad made a promise to keep her memory going forever by creating the Sarah Stern Memorial Scholarship Foundation.

Hundreds of people donated money Sunday night at The Headliner Night Club in Neptune City to honor her name and memory.

Stern grew up just a few blocks away, and in fact, a memorial sits on top of the Route 35 Bridge right behind the nightclub.

According to officials, Stern was murdered by Liam McAtasney back in Dec. 2016, and her body was thrown off the bridge.

As McAtasney spends the rest of his life in prison, Stern’s father, Michael Stern, is left with the task of keeping his daughter’s memory alive.

"She was a wonderful person, she enjoyed arts, photography, drawing, painting, social media," says Michael.

The goal was to raise $10,000, and thanks to the 400 attendees and their generosity – the goal was surpassed. Michael says the money will fund scholarships in Stern's name for other young adults planning careers in the media and arts.

"If anyone was interested in helping, she would be there to guide them along as young as she was there was still very interested to promote them to help them out,” says Michael. “We are going to keep Sarah's name alive."

Michael plans on hosting more scholarship fundraisers in 2020.
