Photographer's shots of abandoned mall wind up in NYC exhibit

Posted: Updated:

A New Milford man's photos of an abandoned New Jersey mall are now on exhibit in the Big Apple.

Phillip Bueller took about 50 photos of the Wayne Hills Mall before it was demolished last February

His work is now on display at the Front Room Gallery in Manhattan. The exhibit is called "Mallrat to Snapchat: The End of the Third Place," and it focuses on what is being lost as malls disappear and people spend more time alone staring at screens.

Bueller says a lot of his work comes from going into an abandoned place and finding a personal connection with it.

"It is nostalgia for meeting face to face with people and seeing people," Bueller says. "I think we're losing something with Instagram and Facebook."

The exhibit runs through Jan. 12.
