One child is dead and another was injured after being stabbed in Newark Tuesday.

It happened at an apartment building located at 141 Park Ave., which is around the corner from Barringer High School at 90 Parker St.

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose says a 15-year-old died of his injuries and an 11-year-old was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Investigators say the younger victim ran out of the building bleeding, according to a man who says he helped the child.

Five individuals were taken from the building Tuesday afternoon. Investigators say they want to question them, but no charges and no arrests have been made.

Investigators say because it is early in the investigation, they do not have a motive.
