NYPD officials: Razor found in deli sandwich that injured officer was an accident

The NYPD officer injured after biting into a sandwich that contained a razor blade was the result of an accident, NYPD officials say.
On Saturday, NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea tweeted that after a thorough investigation, "It has been determined that the razor incident was indeed an accident."
The officer – who has been identified by sources as Thomas Tergesen, of Long Island – bought the sandwich from a deli in Queens. He suffered cuts inside his month but is expected to be OK.
Bon Appetit, in Rockway Park, issued a statement, apologizing for the “unfortunate incident.”
“If given the opportunity, the management of Bon Appetit would like to personally apologize to the officer and the rest of the local law enforcement community,” the statement said, in part.
