Authorities: Accident between taxi, SUV leaves 1 dead, 2 seriously injured

Posted: Updated:

The Hudson County Regional Collision Unit has confirmed a serious accident this morning in Jersey City involving a taxi and SUV has left one man dead, and two others with serious injuries.

The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. on Kennedy Boulevard and Fairmount Avenue.

News 12 spoke to a neighbor, who says she heard a very loud crash in the middle of the night.

Crews had to remove the side doors and the top of the taxi to get the passenger out. Both cars involved have since been removed.

Authorities say one person is in critical condition while the other in in serious, but stable condition.

The intersection was closed for investigation, causing traffic difficulties in the area.

The intersection has since reopened, and the traffic has cleared.

The cause of the crash is still unknown.
