A UPS driver from North Amityville is accused of stealing packages from Babylon homes.
Police arrested Richard Beltre, 30, Wednesday at the UPS Customer Facility in Farmingdale.
Police say Beltre was snatching packages on his delivery route on Siegel Boulevard and Deer Park Avenue.
News 12 is told home security cameras captured Beltre delivering UPS packages to houses, but then took packages that were already delivered by the U.S. Postal Service.
Louis Giordano, of West Islip, claims his Ring doorbell camera caught Beltre stealing a pair of diamond earrings from his mailbox using the same method as the incidents in Babylon.
Police say the theft at Giordano's house may be linked to Beltre but no charges have been filed yet. Giordano says he picked Beltre from a police lineup.
Court documents show Beltre was released in April after serving time for an assault conviction. He was on parole when police charged him with two counts of petit larceny in connection with the package thefts in Babylon.
A UPS spokesman told News 12 the company conducts background checks in accordance with local, state and federal law. They did not comment when asked if UPS conducted a background check on Beltre before he was hired.
