Northern New Jersey slowly recovers from season’s 1st major snowstorm
Thousands of northern New Jersey residents remain without power after a powerful snowstorm dropped 10 inches of snow on parts of the area.
The situation is improving in towns such as Sparta, which saw some power restored. But some in some rural neighborhoods, residents were told that power may not be turned back on until Dec. 5.
JCP&L reports over 26,000 customers without power as of Tuesday night – a majority in northwestern New Jersey.
Monday’s storm brought snow, ice and strong winds, causing trees and powerlines to fall all over the state. Over 40,000 utility customers were without power around the state at the height of the storm.

JCP&L says that the company has hundreds of crews in the area working to make repairs to powerlines. PSE&G says that the company is sending 100 line workers to Sussex County to assist JCP&L.
Sussex County officials have set up a series of warming centers around the county to help people who have lost power find shelter while repairs are made. Overnight lows were expected to be below freezing.
