Bridgewater neighborhood put into lockdown amid reports of armed man
Posted: Updated:Residents of a quiet Bridgewater neighborhood were forced out of their homes in the middle of a snowstorm amid reports that there was an armed man inside one of the homes.
Bridgewater police reported that a man with a gun was spotted near Country Club Road between Route 22 and Garretson Road around 5 p.m. Monday. Authorities say that he was not alone in the house at the time. But police did not release any further information about the incident.
Neighbors were escorted from their homes to safety while police were on the scene. Police also warned other residents to stay inside.
"Knock on the door…and an officer came in and he escorted us out…I was calm about it. My wife was very nervous, very upset,” says neighbor Russ Balliet.
Police say that no shot were fired and that no injuries were reported.
The name of the man in custody was not immediately known. Police did not say what sparked the incident.
