Police: Dog in serious condition after being stabbed

A dog was seriously injured after it was stabbed Friday afternoon.
Police say it happened on Newfield Avenue and Jefferson Street in Bridgeport.
They say a pit bull got loose from someone's yard and attacked a second pit bull being walked on a leash by its owner.
Investigators say a man took out a knife and stabbed one of the dogs.
Officials told News 12 Connecticut Animal Control was called to help the wounded pit bull, which was taken to a local animal hospital where police say it remains in serious, but stable, condition.
This was not a case of self-defense, or a justifiable use of force, police say.
Police say they were able to identify the suspect, but they need help finding him. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
