Long Beach police say Jose Rodriguez followed a minor home from a bus stop and repeatedly tried to talk to the minor.

Police say the 48-year-old appeared before a judge Thursday and pleaded not guilty to endangering the welfare of a child.

"The youth felt intimidated and pressured," says Detective Lt. Stefan Chemaski.

Police say Rodriguez falsely identified himself as part of the music industry. They say the conversation and intimidation lasted for about a quarter of a mile.

According to authorities, Rodriguez is a registered level 3 sex offender for his conviction of first-degree rape.

Rodriguez was also arrested and convicted twice in 2004 for stalking and endangering the welfare of a child.

Rodriguez is being held on $100,000 bail.
