Route 24 and Broad Street in Summit will be fully reopened for the Tuesday morning commute after a fuel spill closed portions of the road for most of Monday.
The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. on Broad Street, which crosses over Route 24. Route 24 was closed in the area for a time.
The Union County hazmat team cleaned up the spill, which caused major issues during the Monday morning commute.
“We couldn’t go anywhere, tried the detour, but still couldn’t get in from the other side,” said Donna Ring, of Summit. “It’s just a little frustrating because we’re open for business but no one could get here unless they walk.”
The tanker driver was not hurt, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
