An investigation into a bias incident at a Lawrence Township High School football game has determined that the victims in the incident were not urinated on, as originally claimed.
Investigators say that the middle school-aged girls did have some type of liquid thrown at them, possibly water or soda – but not urine.
The investigation did support the allegations that racial slurs were used against the students.
Officials say that on Oct. 18 a group of 17-year-old boys of Indian descent targeted a group of African American girls, by allegedly using racial slurs against them and throwing liquid. This is while the group attended the Friday night Lawrence Township High School Football game.
Two of the 17-year-olds were initially charged with bias intimidation and other charges. Officials said Friday that another 17-year-old, also of Indian descent, was charged with harassment.
Officials say that they spoke with many witnesses and reviewed videos of the incident to conduct their investigation. Anyone who may have additional information should call Lt. Joseph Lech of the Lawrence Police Department at 609-896-1111.
