Firefighters rescue woman who fell down a well

Firefighters in Bergen County rescued a woman who fell down a well while tending to a birdbath in her backyard.
Hillside officials say that the woman did not know that the old well was on her property. A construction crew working nearby heard her cries for help and called the police.
Firefighters had to use a special harness and winch to pull her out.
"She was completely alert and conscious. We were talking. We had a nice conversation. We called her husband twice to try to get him to let the dogs out and she left the message for him,” says Hillside Fire Capt. Bill Haffler.
The woman, believed to be in her 60s, was only down in the well for about 15 minutes before help arrived.
The extent of her injuries was unclear, but she did not appear to be seriously injured.
