A mother and her 3-year-old daughter were struck and critically injured by a car while crossing the street in Florence Township Thursday evening.

Police say that the 33-year-old mother and the child were struck around 6:30 p.m. while walking near Olive Street and Cedar Lane. First responders provided aid to the victims and they were then airlifted to a local trauma center.

Police say that the driver stayed on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the incident, according to authorities.

It was unclear if the victims were trick-or-treating for Halloween at the time of the crash.
