Australian airline Qantas has completed its first 19-hour test flight from New York to Sydney, partially to assess how crew and passengers would fare under the conditions. The flight included custom cabin lighting, meal services and food tailored to help overcome issues of jet lag.
Volvo subsidiary Mack Trucks is weathering its first strike in 35 years. The United Auto Workers called for the strike, which began on Oct. 12, and is hitting plants in Macungie, Pennsylvania and Hagerstown, Maryland. Volvo says that due to the strike, the company will temporarily lay off roughly 3,000 employees.
