Elan Footerman aka ‘The Skee-Ball Kid’ brings national title back to New Jersey

Posted: Updated:

Elan Footerman, of Edison, aka "The Skee-Ball Kid," is the new National Skee-Ball League world champion.

He took home the title on Sept. 29 at the Full Circle Bar in Brooklyn, upsetting three-time champion Joey “The Cat” Mucha.

Footerman's family owns a small bungalow at Point Pleasant Beach built by his great-grandfather. He spent many a summer night in the arcades, eventually earning his Springsteenian nickname from the awestruck arcade employees.

“I realized I was hitting the jackpot every other time,” Footerman told News 12. “And I was like…maybe all those years paid off.”

He's won enough TVs and cookware to outfit his dorm at Lafayette College where he's majoring in mechanical engineering.

Footerman says he’s proud to bring the Skee-Ball championship back to the boardwalk where the game was invented.

“It's really cool that the Skee-Ball champion is from New Jersey…It's very fitting,” he says.

Footerman has also won the annual championship held at Ed's Funcade in Wildwood three straight years. His latest win comes with an $8,000 prize that he plans to spend on his own Skee-Ball machine.
