End Overdose NY rallies outside opioid task force meeting in Patchogue

A meeting of the New York Senate Opioid Task Force in Patchogue on Tuesday sparked a rally from End Overdose NY, an anti-drug advocacy group.
The group says it wants the state to focus more on medication-assisted treatment, overdose prevention centers and the decriminalization of low-level drug offenses like carrying a syringe.
They are asking the state Senate to pass the critical funding needed to fight the opioid addiction and the overdose epidemic.
The task force meeting was the fifth it has held throughout the state. There are two more hearings scheduled for the task force.
The next meeting is scheduled for the end of October in Buffalo and the final will be held in Albany in November.
