Police in Toms River say a woman was killed in a crash while trying to help a fellow driver.

The accident happened Monday around 5:49 a.m. at the intersection of Route 37 and Northampton Boulevard.

Police say Anne Lavallo, 56, of Keyport, was helping Rocky Sal Granata, 60, with his disabled motor home that had an attached trailer.

Police say a vehicle driven by Michael Martinez, 62, of Jackson, struck the trailer, which ultimately struck Lavallo, where she was standing between the trailer and motor home.

She died at the scene.

There are no anticipated charges for Martinez at this state of the investigation.
