Third person dies of EEE in Connecticut, fourth diagnosed

A third person has died as a result of the mosquito-borne virus Eastern Equine Encephalitis in Connecticut, officials confirmed.

A third person has died as a result of the mosquito-borne virus Eastern Equine Encephalitis in Connecticut, officials confirmed. 
The Connecticut Department of Public Health announced Monday that the East Haddam resident who died during the third week of September was between 60 and 69 years old , and became ill during the second week of September.
State health officials say a resident of Colchester between the ages of 40 and 49 years old also remains hospitalized after coming down with EEE during the third week of August.
The fatality marks the third EEE-related death in the state this year, and the newest diagnosis marks the fourth.
State officials say there have been a total of 12 human cases of EEE infection in Massachusetts, including three fatalities, and three human cases in Rhode Island, including one fatality.
