An event that will be held Saturday at Branch Brook Park in Newark is meant to give training and information about asthma.
The American Lung Association's Catching our Breath walk is dedicated to Shuaib Wright, who died from an asthma attack in April at just 13 years old.
His mother, Baiyinah Wright, says his last words were "I can't breathe" during a FaceTime call with her.
Organizers say the event is meant to educate young children about asthma and what triggers it. Pulmonologist Andrew Berman, of Newark's University Hospital, says one in 12 people suffers from asthma.
Children who attend will have an opportunity to get a $5 admission to the Turtle Back Zoo.
Officials say 8% of children and 7% of adults suffer from asthma.
News 12 New Jersey's Rick Holmes is the Master of Ceremonies for the walk.
