Prosecutor: Garbage truck crash that closed Lincoln Tunnel caused by human error

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office says that a crash involving a garbage truck that backed up traffic for miles on Route 495 was caused by driver error.
Investigators say that truck driver Eulalio Diaz hit the gas pedal instead of the brake. This caused him to crash the truck into several cars before crashing through a barrier and dangling over Route 495 in Union City.
The July crash injured 12 people and closed traffic at the Lincoln Tunnel at the height of the evening rush hour.
Officials say that no charges have been filed against Diaz.
