Filming for Steven Spielberg’s remake of "West Side Story" continued Tuesday in Essex County.
The filming took place just off South Orange Avenue in Newark and East Orange. Residents will be barred from parking on the road from 7 a.m. through 3 p.m. until Friday. Filming took place from Alexander Street to Brookdale Avenue.
Filming began back in August in Paterson, where Spielberg was even presented with a key to the city.
New Jersey recently approved about $7 million in tax credits for the production under a 2018 law designed to bring more movie shoots to the state.
Rachel Zegler, 18, of Clifton is also making her movie debut in the film as Maria. Zegler graduated in June from Immaculate Conception High School in Lodi.
In 2017, she played Maria in a BergenPAC Performing Arts School production of "West Side Story."
