Officials say a firefighter making a rescue in Passaic fell two stories off a ladder Saturday morning.

It happened at a house on 5th Street. Firefighter Rene Rivera pulled the victim out of the house during the fire, but then lost his grip.

He and the victim fell onto a fence. Officials say Rivera had some bruising, and that the victim is being treated for smoke inhalation.

They say 20 people were displaced from the fire.
