A 59-year-old man is facing charges after he allegedly followed a woman leaving Six Flags Great Adventure.
Jackson Township police say that the victim had left the amusement park and noticed that a man was following her in his own vehicle. She told police that she made several random turns and noticed that the man kept following her.
Police say that the woman pulled into a parking lot to wait for a family member and that at this time the man blocked her car with this and tried to enter her vehicle. He identified himself as a federal agent.
Authorities say that when police arrived they tried to get him out of his car, but he refused. He allegedly provided officers with “a driver’s license along with a Great Adventure coupon and a handicapped placard, which he claimed were his law enforcement credentials as he identified himself as a federal agent to the officers.”
The man, who police did not publicly identify, then drove away from the area and refused to pull over, according to authorities. Police say that the chase reached speeds of over 80 mph. Officers stopped chasing the man when the pursuit became too dangerous.
The man was eventually located a short time later and placed under arrest after a struggle.
He is facing a variety of charges including eluding, impersonating a law enforcement officer and harassment.
