Back to School: Sleep transitions

Doctors at St. Peter’s University Hospital say it is important to get children back on a sleep schedule ahead of back-to-school. 

News 12's Kristina Behr spoke with Dr. Samuel Knee on back-to-school sleeping tips.

Dr. Knee says children should get back to their regular sleep schedule a few weeks before school starts.

He says children from 6 to 12 years old should be getting about nine-12 hours of sleep. Teenagers should be getting about eight-10 hours of sleep.

Dr. Knee says it is also important to turn off screens about an hour or two before bedtime.
