Study: Newark Liberty Int'l Airport has longest security wait times in the US

For Newark Liberty International Airport, being one of the busiest travel hubs in the country also comes with some of the most delays.
A new study by Upgraded Points ranks the Newark airport at the top of security wait times across the country. They found the average TSA wait time at Newark Liberty is 23 minutes.
The worst time to travel is Monday from noon to 1 p.m. On peak travel days, the wait is around 60 minutes.
Houston's George Bush International Airport comes in behind Newark for wait times at 19 minutes. Miami, Baltimore and Las Vegas round out the top five.
By comparison, Salt Lake City International had the shortest average time at nine minutes.
TSA lines, of course, can be slowed down by passengers who don't follow security guidelines. Earlier this week, someone left a snake at a Newark security checkpoint. A day later, a passenger was stopped when TSA found a dagger in her wooden walking stick.
No matter where you go, TSA recommends getting to the airport two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before flying internationally.
