An Elizabeth man pleaded guilty to a drunk driving crash that killed his daughter in Burlington County last year.
Prosecutors say that Marcelo Rizzo, 38, pleaded guilty to one count of vehicular homicide, one count of endangering the welfare of a child and driving while intoxicated.
Investigators say that on Nov. 25, 2018, Rizzo crashed his Ford Focus on Interstate 295 in Mount Laurel. His 9-year-old daughter was thrown from the vehicle and was found in a wooded area nearby. Rizzo and a younger daughter were also in the Focus and were not seriously hurt.
Rizzo is said to have drank multiple alcoholic beverages at an establishment in Camden County prior to the crash. His blood alcohol level was double the legal limit, according to officials.
Rizzo will face 10 years in prison when he is sentenced on Oct. 25.
