Three police officers from Irvington injured in a shootout continue to recover in a hospital, and Mayor Tony Vauss is expected to be giving an update at some point today.
The shooting happened Thursday morning on Myrtle Avenue.
The attorney general's office says Kaizen Crossen shot and killed an innocent bystander. Authorities say Crossen and the man he shot, an unarmed 20 year old, were brought to University Hospital in Newark, where they were both pronounced dead.
The three officers were also taken to University Hospital, where all are reported in stable condition.
Reports say Crossen was known to law enforcement and served time for dealing drugs.
Officers arrived and exchanged fire. One officer was shot in the leg, and two more were also hit during the shooting.
Police say Crossen had on a bulletproof vest and had plenty of ammunition with him.
All three officers are expected to survive.
A motive is still unclear at this point.
