Woman says she was bitten by coyote in Mahwah

MAHWAH -

Mahwah officials are looking for a coyote that a woman says attacked her.

The woman says she was attacked around 6:15 p.m. Friday while she was walking on Grenadier Drive.

She was bitten several times and used a bat to scare the coyote away.

Officials say in order to avoid coyote attacks, people should keep garbage cans covered and to not leave any food or small pets outside.

If people see a coyote, they are advised not to turn their back and be as big and loud as possible.
