Man sentenced for using homeowners’ money for personal use

A Dix Hills man accused of stealing from homeowners was sentenced to three to six years in prison Thursday.
Mark Savransky called himself a mortgage modification specialist and worked at an office in Carle Place.
Prosecutors say he stole $568,000 from over two dozen homeowners.
They say he promised to reduce their mortgage payments, then used the money for travel and his own bills.
A judge also ordered him to pay back the money he took from the 32 homeowners who wanted to modify their mortgages.
