Authorities probe death of man who died in police custody

Authorities are probing the death of a man who died while he was being arrested at an Old Bridge apartment complex.
Police went to the Stratford Apartments Monday around 12:30 a.m. after someone reported a man was causing a disturbance inside a neighbor's apartment.
Police found Frank Zampini, 49, there and handcuffed him because he was combative.
Zampini soon became unresponsive and officers began CPR.
Emergency responders were also called to the apartment, but Zampini was pronounced dead in the unit a short time later.
The state Attorney General's Office will look into the incident, which is standard procedure when someone dies while in police custody.
Further information on Zampini's death and the disturbance call has not been released.
