Easton PD on lookout for vandals who damaged cemetery

Easton police are trying to track down vandals who caused damage at a cemetery.
Police say more than 40 headstones were knocked over and damaged at Union Cemetery on Sport Hill Road. The vandalism resulted in around $40,000 in damages.
They say it happened sometime between July 4 and July 11.
Sammy Partridge, the vice president of the cemetery, says he was prepping for a burial when he noticed the damage. Some of the tombstones weigh more than 500 pounds, and Partridge says he has no idea how the suspects toppled them.
Partridge is trying to grapple with what the motive was behind the vandalism.
"How would they like it if someone, if I went and did this to their grandfather's stone or something?" he asks. "I don't care who they are. You're not supposed to desecrate graves like this. It's a sin, isn't it?"
Partridge says he is going to look into putting video surveillance in the cemetery.
Last month, 30 tombstones were knocked down in a cemetery in Milford. Easton police say they are working with Milford to see if these cases are connected.
Partridge recognizes that Union Cemetery has a reputation for being haunted by a ghost called the "White Lady."
"If they think they're going to, you know, upset the 'White Lady,' and she's going to come out, and they're going to see it, it's not going to happen," says Partridge.
Anyone with information is asked to call Easton police.
