HACKENSACK -

True Food Kitchen, a restaurant chain invested in by Oprah Winfrey, will open its first location next year in New Jersey.

The Arizona-based chain will open a location at The Shops at Riverside in Hackensack in the spring.

True Food Kitchen promotes healthy eating and does not use fryers and freezers.

Menus are built around what the restaurant calls the anti-inflammatory pyramid, a way of eating that is intended to guard against chronic inflammation.

The chain now has locations in 16 states.
