Commuters at Copiague LIRR station now must pay to park

Commuters who use the Copiague LIRR station will now have to pay to park.
The Town of Babylon says starting in September, parking in those lots will cost $65 a year for residents and $200 a year for non-residents.
Town officials say they're switching to paid permits. They say the idea is to discourage non-residents from filling up the parking spaces that should be used by residents.
The Town of Babylon says parking permits will be required Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. The spots will be open to the public on evenings and weekends.
The town says parking stickers will go on sale at town hall beginning Aug. 1. The fees go into effect Sept. 1.
The town says commuters without parking permits will be ticketed.
