Police: Motorcyclist killed after rear-ending car in front of him on Route 37

Police in Toms River say a man was killed in a motorcycle accident after he crashed into the back of a braking car.

The accident happened Thursday just after 5 p.m. on Route 37.

According to police, Shawn Mathewson, 34, of Kearny was riding a on a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle when traffic in front of him slowed down.

Police say Mathewson then rear-ended the car in front of him.

Mathewson was taken to Community Medical Center, where he died.
