TOMS RIVER -

Police say a called-in threat at IHOP and Wawa in Toms River evacuated both businesses, and dispatched multiple police units to the area.

The incident happened Sunday around 12:22 p.m. at the IHOP located at 176 Route 37 W. and the Wawa located at 179 Route 37 E.

According to police, an unknown man called the Wawa saying there would be an explosion at a nearby restaurant when the lights went back on. Power was out at the time following a transformer explosion.

Both businesses were evacuated and swept, but nothing was found.

Power has since been restored.
